To sample colors for this image using Photoshop, I first converted to 8-bit Mode and then applied Filter > Pixelate > Mosaic with a Cell Size of 200 square. The resulting palette is pretty cool!

April, I do like this texture image very much. The colors are so suitable for the fall season.
It also never occurred to me to use the Mosaic filter to get the colors from an image! You used to do this with another software – don’t remember its name. But it gave you only 4-5 of the most predominant hues.
Thanks for this idea.
Flo, you’re in the middle of a workshop with Craig yet have the energy to visit and comment on photoblogs?! You are amazing. 🙂
Nope, not amazing. Just taking a few minutes.
Craig showed us how the Kuler color selector works in CS5 and what an awesome tool that is! Didn’t you say you’d upgraded to 5?
Kuler is a great little tool! I’m using the plugin for Photoshop CS4.
Such a rich scene. I find myself diving into the details, float back up and enjoy the mood, dig deep again and so on. Very nice and richt – colors, details, even the smell of autumn.
cheers

Roland, your comment reminds me of what it’s like to play in a pile of autumn leaves. Thank you for that!
