…which so easily go unnoticed in our everyday life.
This was photographed in morning light while making the bed on vacation in a “Mountain Hideaway”.
I’m discovering that it’s easier to notice such details when on vacation. 🙂
Now my question is how to view everyday life as an ongoing vacation, which one source defines as “an extended period of recreation.” That seems especially apt!

I was amazed by the manyfold associations this pattern made me come up with. From a zen-garden to a closeup of a chamaeleon skin, from signs of a lost rite to a maori tatoo… The only thing that always brought me back to “reality” is the vertical break line. I dread it and love it at the same time. The slight hint of color only appears after a minute or so looking. That’s another great aspect here.

April, how right you are about us usually not noticing the beautiful of small details that surround us in our daily lives.
I love this, and like Roland suggests, it can bring up many different associations. I do find that vertical seam distracting. Can’t say the I love it or hate it – just that I think I wish it were not there.
Last time I was in Boulder was 1997 and I’m pretty sure that retreat wasn’t there then. Their rates are very reasonable for stays longer than 3 days – surprised me!
Hugs,
Flo
Thank you both very much for taking the time to visit and for your comments!
For me, this is a tactile image: I want to trace the patterns with my fingers and let my mind drift. In that light, perhaps the seam could be considered a “join” between reality and imagination.
This was our second stay at the Hideaway. Though the access drive is…challenging…the location is perfect, accommodations delightful, and hosts wonderfully thoughtful.
