April, thanks for teaching me a new word – shodo! Japanese caligraphy! Yes, this certainly could be a much elongated shodo symbol.
I shoot most of my images between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Perhaps this is why most of them are so uninspiring. I find it very hard, tho, to get out when the light is magical.
Something I realized when this image was taken is that the angle and quality of winter light was unusual even at mid-day—low and clear. So we need not despair if we miss the other “magic hours”!
