On a calm day, Montrose Harbor is a great place to look for reflections. This was photographed about an hour after sunrise, when the light was still warm in hue.

70-300 mm f/4.5–5.6 @ 240mm (360mm EFL); focus distance 9.4m

Seen in a parking lot while running errands. Having a camera on hand makes daily chores a lot more fun!

I’m constantly amazed by how things appear to change even as they largely remain the same. “Simplicity №1” was photographed in this location back in May. Returning some weeks later, I was annoyed by new “No Parking” signs affixed to the wall. Yesterday, the signs were still there—but so were a number of parked cars.  🙂

18.0-200.0 mm f/3.5-5.6 @ 75mm (112mm EFL); focus distance 14.96m

Another photograph taken during the recent Miksang workshop in Boulder. As we endure 96F heat and high humidity in Chicago, this image struck me as especially inviting to process. 😉

The white flecks were puffs of cottonwood seed floating on the pond’s surface, but remind me of  falling snow or cherry blossoms.

18.0-200.0 mm f/3.5-5.6 @ 200mm (300mm EFL); focus distance 2.24m

This scene was monochromatic, so it was photographed using the black and white Color Effect mode in the Lumix. As Craig Tanner has so often suggested, that let me preview and capture a black and white JPEG file for reference along with the full color RAW file for processing.

The title dates me! Read the lyrics or listen to the song—but be forewarned: I now have an earworm from the latter which is likely to last several days.

Color reflections of autumn foliage in a lagoon.

Photographed in a local wetland nature preserve, where I’m still stalking the geese ;). I was fascinated by the way the reflection was breaking up into rectangles, which which reminded me of Gustav Klimt’s paintings.

Once again, on my main computer Firefox displays as over-saturated. Click on the image for a more accurate view. Strangely, it looks ok in the same browser on my laptop. Let me know how it appears for you…?

Walking the alleys after a rainstorm, it was a good day to focus on reflections.
